Lincoln Trail Elementary
It is time to prepare for the 29th annual HANDS Around the World event at Lincoln Trail Elementary! The purpose of HANDS (Heritages and National Differences Study) is to expose the students to different cultures and increase their knowledge of national differences.
Each classroom will be turned into a different country for the day and lessons about those countries are led by volunteer “governors”. Students will spend the day traveling from country to country, learning about the people and cultures of those places.
Volunteer Positions
Governor:
● Prepare a 25 minute lesson about a country. This lesson can include basic cultural and
other information, an activity (craft, dance, game, etc) and food samples.
● Possibly be available to set-up your classroom on Thursday, May 7 after school.
● Attend HANDS on Friday, May 8 to present the 25 minute lesson to different classes of
students. Governors will give 5-6 presentations during the hours of 9am to 2pm.
*Note: No personal experience with a country is necessary to be a governor.
Classroom Assistant:
● Attend HANDS on Friday, May 8 from 9am to 2pm, assisting a governor as they present
a 25 minute lesson to different classes or students.
